History of shopping centre Eden
Eden Shopping Centre was built in 2005 and over an area of 30 800 contains over 100 stores where customers will find everything – from groceries through fashion for the youth and middle ages and entertainment to refreshments and essential services, such as key cutting and a branch of the post office. Hypermarket Tesco is located on the area of 5 000 m2.
During the first Czechoslovak Republic, this location was home to the huge Eden amusement park, which at the time rivalled Prater in Vienna. The amusement park grew very quickly, and by 1922 visitors were able to go through the monumental gates to an ‘Eden’ with all the funfair facilities available at that time. It contained a wide tree-lined promenade and a manmade lake where young couples could hire a boat for a romantic boat ride. Concerts and entertainment took place here, while dancing took place in the central Colosseum, theatre was performed on the lagoon, and there were trained animal performances and fireworks in the evenings.
